Second Phase

NOW OPEN

The renovation is complete, and the new golf course opened Saturday, August 30th.  With the picture perfect weather to germinate and grow grass, the project got back on track in a hurry.  "Six weeks ago, I would have been very hesitant to say that Labor Day was a possibility for a grand opening.  But that has all changed with the weather.  We are back to setting a target of Labor Day Weekend," said Director of Grounds Chuck Barber.

Early summer of 2007 Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort and the Village of Bloomingdale struck a deal to exchange 35 acres of golf course, to allow for open space and flood plain control.  The plan also included a brand new 9 holes and a world class practice facility.  The golf course renovation began October 8, 2007 and continued into the Spring of 2008.  The new 9 holes opened on Saturday, August 30th and the practice facility opened earlier that week.

The new 9 holes has a 155-yard par 3 with an island green, and a 615-yard par 5 with an elevated green.  The golf course is again being designed by Rick Jacobson, who also designed Blackhawk Trace.  The new 9 will mirror Blackhawk Trace, and when complete Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort will be a 27-hole facility.

Accompanying the new design is a practice facility, with 44 stations of high-quality turf, target greens, a 10,000 square foot putting and chipping green, along with bunkers for green side practice and fairway practice.

When the new 9 holes open, the courses will be known as Island (new 9 holes), Highland (front 9 of Blackhawk Trace), Woodland (back 9 of Blackhawk Trace).  The three 9 hole golf courses will rotate differently, to provide a maximum of six different golf courses.
